Equip your OpEx and PE teams with the skills, confidence, and hands-on experience to lead change on the factory floor.
Over 10 weeks, Chartwell combines deep technical coaching with live improvement scenarios covering topics like changeover reduction, increasing run time efficiency and reducing waste.
Typical Super User programs comprise 2-4 team members being trained in parallel, although larger groups can be accommodated.
Training is best focused on a single core focus area (e.g. changeover reduction, runtime efficiency improvement, waste reduction, technical problem solving) – which requires many skills to deliver improvement. Multiple training periods can be run if certain methodologies are more relevant to different groups.
Unlike the more intense Super Improver program, there is not a fixed selection process for Super User programs, instead, team members should be chosen from the client organization based on: aptitude, attitude and long-term potential.
Key features
- Participants deliver real performance gains during the program, such as 15 – 25% line speed increases or 40%+ changeover time reductions.
- Training is delivered on-site, using your equipment and processes, ensuring relevance and immediate impact on priority areas.
- Your team gains the skills, tools, and confidence to independently lead improvements — no ongoing consultant support needed.
Typical use cases
There are three main use cases where this service brings the most value:
- Site-wide focus on changeover reduction to increase output.
- Sites looking to increase run time efficiency for semi-automated lines.
- Organizations aiming to minimize raw material losses.
Industrien
We have a strong track record of results across industries:
Contents and structure
Chartwell’s Super User Training comprises a mix of:
Upfront Training
2-3 days of classroom training to learn the underlying methodology and practice on case studies in a safe environment.
Live Practice
Following the training, Super Users spend 10+ weeks running workstreams where they deploy the new methodology on high-value areas at their site, with support and guidance from a Chartwell coach.
Training and coaching structure
Depending on the industry and range of opportunities available on-site, we will design a set of 3-5 training modules to deliver to the group selected for Super User training – typically OpEx or PE team members. These modules can be off-the shelf or bespoke, as required.
Training will be delivered in person, on site by Chartwell consultants experienced in deployment of those methodologies to drive improvement.
The training schedule can be adjusted to suit the client organization, but is typically structured as four half-days or 2-3 days full time.
Examples of module groups include:
Reduzierung der Umrüstzeiten
- SMED introduction
- SMED Case Studies
- Line Study training
- Scripting, and/or Golden Cycle Analysis
- Workshop Facilitation
Technische Problemlösung
- FTM & VTM introduction
- FTM physics-based case studies
- Trial Planning
- Workshop Facilitation
Following the upfront training, the Super User will have 1-3 workstreams (depending on their experience and
complexity of workstreams) defined with clear, quantifiable success criteria.
They will deploy the new methodology in the workstreams, learning the key factors, behaviors and delivery methods that enable good ideas to be converted into measurable results.
The Super User’s Chartwell coach will support them through this, providing feedback, technical advice, and
suggestions for accelerating progress. This may include daily goal reviews, attending workshops and providing
feedback, and supporting on technical analysis if needed.
The Chartwell site lead will give weekly feedback on the workstream where the Super User is applying the methodology.
In addition to the above, we are also able to tailor the training and/or add additional modules based on specific client needs, for example if there are specific challenges, opportunities or skill gaps that the organization would like to target.
Results and sustainability
Super User Training is typically run alongside a wider improvement program, and helps with both:
- Delivering improvement faster – due to parallel improvement delivered by OpEx and PE team members skilled in proven improvement methodologies.
- Ensuring results are sustained – this training is a powerful investment in upskilling core team members to ensure they are highly effective in delivering improvement within the core competencies after the wider improvement project has ended.
Alongside the core training, we have other offerings which can help OpEx, PE and frontline teams continue to thrive and develop:
- Supervisor Training – Skills training for frontline supervisors to help them successfully lead their team
- Visualizers – Design of bespoke digital visualization tools. for OpEx, PE, and Supervisor teams
- FLATs and Visual Management – Design and setup of bespoke Front Line Accountability Tools (FLATs)
